This company is a division of the Diversified Auto Technology Development Group, an R & D (Research and Development) partnership formed in the United States in 1987. This partnership, as well as Diversified Auto Technology (DAT), is a totally & privately funded entity. The R & D partnership's purpose was to develop a vehicular accident recorder at a reasonable cost. During the developmental stages, it became apparent that newly proposed EU legislation was introduced (1985) and underway to modify the existing commercial vehicle Tachograph legislation EEC No. 3821/85 and Council Directive 88/599/EEC on Recording Equipment in Road Transport. This newly adopted legislation (now passed) affects all 27 current EU countries that regulate some 15 million commercial vehicles, their operators and their owners.
